Art of the Ages

Wow  What a great event and what a lovely setting.  We had a great turnout for WOIA presents Art of the Ages.  If you are ever in Indianapolis, be sure to check out The Athenaeum.  The building is stunning and the arts space is just ethereal.  I am so honored and thrilled to have some of my paintings there for the month of April.

Art of the Ages

I am so thrilled to be one of the contributing artists for this event, and I’m hoping to have completed two more pieces before the opening night.  If you happen to be in Indianapolis, the Athenaeum is a very cool historic building and worth visiting in its own right.  Rejuvenation Indy will have art there as well.  Please come check it out.  If you can’t make it to the opening reception, the exhibit will be there the whole month of April.  I’ll be there with bells on!

Edible Schoolyard online auction

Edible Schoolyard is a fantastic program at First Line charter schools in New Orleans.  The kids are involved in every level of planning and maintaining the gardens, and the food is prepared at their cafeterias, where young folks interested in the culinary arts can work with local chefs to prepare the foods they have grown and harvested.  Their online auction is open for bidding, and there are some fantastic hand painted watering cans for bid, including one by yours truly.  Check it out:

WOIA Presents: Art of the Ages

WOIA presents another event at the historic Athanaeum in downtown Indianapolis in conjunction with ReGeneration Indy a group of local artists that lead affordable art workshops and host Youth Art Shows. There will also be 5 youth artists on display during the opening show.  If you happen to be in or near Indianapolis on April 7, please come by and check this out.

Sunset in Cypress Grove

I’m getting close to finishing this big boy: 30″ x 40″- another one inspired by New Orleans news anchor and photographer John Snell.  I hope to have it ready for exhibit at Art of The Ages at The Athenaeum in downtown Indianapolis.  The opening reception is tomorrow evening from 6:00-9:00.  Come by and say hello!

New Year = New techniques & new knowledge

In keeping with my resolution to really focus on my art this year, I’ve tried a new approach to a painting, and I’m experimenting with glazing.  I’m probably not doing it right, but I think it’s something that requires practice.  I also signed up for a teaching course on the business side of being a professional artist.  I’m hoping the investment is worthwhile and can get me more exposure, and of course, more sales.  I’m hoping to have at least one of these three paintings in the Stutz exhibit for February, and I’ll have some of my art at Sacred Roots Midwifery and Birth Center for the next few months.  Wish me luck.

I’ll keep you posted!

Mini paintings are great gifts for anytime!

Mini paintings make fantastic gifts. A little touch of original art that is reasonably priced and very transportable makes a unique statement that will add to the personal touches of someone’s home or office. Send me a favorite photograph of a flower, tree or landscape and I will create something just for you. At this point, I could not guarantee it would be ready before Christmas, but think about birthdays, Valentine’s Day, anniversaries, Mothers’ Day, Fathers’ Day, or the best of all:  a gift for no apparent reason.

Indiana Interchurch Center Gallery exhibition: Home

I am SO excited.  I found out today that this painting has been accepted for the exhibit of women’s art called “Home.”  The cherry on top was the email I got today from Frank Relle, of Frank Relle Photography, who told me he loves the painting that was inspired by one of his photographs.
