Art of the Ages

Wow  What a great event and what a lovely setting.  We had a great turnout for WOIA presents Art of the Ages.  If you are ever in Indianapolis, be sure to check out The Athenaeum.  The building is stunning and the arts space is just ethereal.  I am so honored and thrilled to have some of my paintings there for the month of April.

Edible Schoolyard online auction

Edible Schoolyard is a fantastic program at First Line charter schools in New Orleans.  The kids are involved in every level of planning and maintaining the gardens, and the food is prepared at their cafeterias, where young folks interested in the culinary arts can work with local chefs to prepare the foods they have grown and harvested.  Their online auction is open for bidding, and there are some fantastic hand painted watering cans for bid, including one by yours truly.  Check it out:

Intuitive Abstract painting workshop- Be an artist for an afternoon!

Intuitive Abstract painting workshop!

Indy friends, I will be guiding a painting class at the very hip Acceleration gallery on Shelby St., in Fountain Square, on Sunday, April 23, from 2:00-4:00. Wine and beer are included as well as all supplies!!  Just show up ready to make a little mess, have some fun, relieve some stress, and take home an abstract painting. The workshop is called Intuitive Abstract painting and I will show you how I completed one of my favorite paintings, Hope – A Tribute to Paris. Cost is $25 per person.  It’s a bargain, and even if you think you can’t paint, you will have a blast!

Midwest Winter Sunrise

I just finished and signed this 12 x 24″ acrylic on canvas.  It’s from a photograph by Ohio artist and photographer Shannon Godby, who has generously given me his permission to use the photo for inspiration.  It was fun experimenting with glaze.

This is the most recent update.  I’m fairly pleased with it so far!

RED exhibit

I’m excited to say that this painting was accepted for the upcoming RED exhibit at the Raymond James Stutz Gallery in Indianapolis.  This my first juried exhibit, and my third exhibit at the Stutz Gallery in downtown Indianapolis.  It will be for sale after the exhibit.  If you’re in the area, come by on Friday, February 3rd.  The address is 212 W. 10th St., Indianapolis IN 46202.

New Year = New techniques & new knowledge

In keeping with my resolution to really focus on my art this year, I’ve tried a new approach to a painting, and I’m experimenting with glazing.  I’m probably not doing it right, but I think it’s something that requires practice.  I also signed up for a teaching course on the business side of being a professional artist.  I’m hoping the investment is worthwhile and can get me more exposure, and of course, more sales.  I’m hoping to have at least one of these three paintings in the Stutz exhibit for February, and I’ll have some of my art at Sacred Roots Midwifery and Birth Center for the next few months.  Wish me luck.

I’ll keep you posted!
