I just finished and signed this 12 x 24″ acrylic on canvas. It’s from a photograph by Ohio artist and photographer Shannon Godby, who has generously given me his permission to use the photo for inspiration. It was fun experimenting with glaze.

I’m excited to say that this painting was accepted for the upcoming RED exhibit at the Raymond James Stutz Gallery in Indianapolis. This my first juried exhibit, and my third exhibit at the Stutz Gallery in downtown Indianapolis. It will be for sale after the exhibit. If you’re in the area, come by on Friday, February 3rd. I’m full of creative ideas right now, and very excited about approaching painting in different ways. An old dear friend mentioned to me recently that she loves my abstract paintings more than any others. Most of the paintings I’ve done to sell or to give as gifts have been of landscapes that have special meaning to the recipient, but the ones that have been the most fun for me have been the abstracts. Here’s to a new year of painting! This is a work in progress inspired by a photograph by one of my favorite New Orleans photographers, John Snell, who has graciously given me permission to use his photographs. Check out his work. You will understand why people have a hard time leaving Louisiana.
Mini paintings make fantastic gifts. A little touch of original art that is reasonably priced and very transportable makes a unique statement that will add to the personal touches of someone’s home or office. Send me a favorite photograph of a flower, tree or landscape and I will create something just for you. At this point, I could not guarantee it would be ready before Christmas, but think about birthdays, Valentine’s Day, anniversaries, Mothers’ Day, Fathers’ Day, or the best of all: a gift for no apparent reason.
I am SO excited. I found out today that this painting has been accepted for the exhibit of women’s art called “Home.” The cherry on top was the email I got today from Frank Relle, of Frank Relle Photography, who told me he loves the painting that was inspired by one of his photographs.
Gallery 924 is a local art gallery here in Indianapolis. They are looking for submissions for their 5th annual TINY exhibition. These are three of the four pieces I’m working on for submission. They will be for sale after the exhibit, assuming that the gallery accepts them. These pieces are 5″ x 5″ each, and would make nice Christmas gifts. They are very easy to ship, unlike large canvases. The fourth one is a little more complicated and I hope to finish it this evening if I have time. Mondays are simply horrific at my full-time job, especially when we only have four people working.
I had put this aside for a while because I wasn’t sure what to do next. Recently I looked again at the photograph by New Orleans photographer Frank Relle and was inspired – as I always am when I see his work. So, I just decided the best thing to do would be to get some water, clean up my studio and just jump in. This is what I have so far. I’m getting excited about finishing it. This has been a big challenge.

The premiere event for the Women of Indianapolis Arts took place last night, October 8, 2016, with art exhibitions by yours truly, as well as other talented female-identifying artists in the Indianapolis area. It was a huge success with a great turnout of all ages. The Stutz Artists Association has once again included me in one of their fantastic exhibits. This one is called Secret Doors and was designed to make art more accessible and relevant to children. All of the works of art are displayed at the eye level of a child. This exhibit will take place through October at the Raymond James Stutz Art Gallery, on W. 10th St. in downtown Indianapolis.
